New Caring for Carers Dementia Support Groups and Training

New Caring for Carers Dementia Support Groups and Training

Crossroads is pleased to announce that we are offering new ways to support those who are caring for someone with dementia or memory problems living in Birmingham.

In partnership with Birmingham Carers Hub, we will be launching a number of carer groups across Birmingham to provide information, emotional support and sign-posting to appropriate help and also providing specialist dementia training for carers.

Although groups are currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, help is still available. We will be staying in contact with carers by phone and social media so we can continue to foster relationships and offer emotional and well-being checks to carers and their families. We are also able to help carers who may be struggling to explain coronavirus and social distancing to someone with dementia. By staying connected we will be able to advise as to when we will be able to launch our new groups.

Face-to-face training is also currently suspended due to the pandemic, but we will soon be offering training via phone or video-call with our experienced trainer. A greater awareness of dementia and the support available can help carers and their family deal with the everyday challenges that they may face at any point of the caring journey.

Chris Christie, Crossroads CEO said, “We’re really pleased to be working in partnership with Birmingham Carers Hub to offer these services to carers across Birmingham. We have many years’ experience in delivering dementia carer groups and training, so we’re delighted that we can continue help even more carers of people with a dementia to care for longer.”
