Specialist Dementia Training
Working in partnership with Birmingham Carers Hub, we provide FREE specialist training specifically for carers of people with memory problems or dementia living in Birmingham.
Our experienced Trainer delivers up to date information to help you in your caring role in a relaxed and friendly environment, either in an informal group setting or one-to-one.
Coronavirus Pandemic
Please Note – During the current coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, we will be following government guidelines and all face to face training is suspended until further notice. However, we can safely offer training sessions via video call (Zoom), see below for details.
Dementia Training Topics
We have a menu of five different training topics which carers can pick and choose from to suit their individual caring journey –
Dementia Explained, Diagnosis and Support What causes memory loss?, Identifying symptoms, types of dementia and where and who to contact for help.
Behaviour and Carers Tips What causes behavioural changes?, Types of challenging behaviour and tried and tested tips shared and used by carers.
Nutrition Why does a person not want to eat or drink? How can carers help their love one maintain a healthy diet? How can I overcome mealtime challenges? What carers need to be aware of when helping their love ones to eat.
Advanced Planning What carers need to know about advanced planning, caring benefits for someone with dementia and assistance that can be given by professionals.
Infection Awareness What infections are people with dementia prone to get?, How do I recognise the signs of infections when there is no communication? The not so obvious infections that carers need to be aware of. Please Note – this topic is available on request only.
